Making Pretzels

We have been fortunate to have had some very mild days as the winter comes to an end.  We have had a few very cold and rainy days though.  So what to do on a rainy day you ask?  Make pretzels!  Holden had a blast making pretzels while Ellarie took a nap.

10 Months!

IMG_8153Ellarie is pulling herself up to stand all over the house, she cruises along furniture, and is attempting to make some dynamic moves moving from holding onto one surface to another.  She is starting to prefer eating soft cooked veggies rather than pureed.  She loves broccoli, carrots, and beans the most!  We love her little sing-song voice as she says “ma ma ma” and “da da da.”  She really gets a kick out of herself when she masters something that she has been working hard at!  It’s adorable:)

She is growing so fast and I truly love watching every minute of it!

Playing soccer and the beginning of walking…

Tonight we had a lot going on in the house.  Holden was practicing his awesome soccer skills while Ellarie started walking behind her push toy for the first time.  It took her a few tries but within minutes she figured it out!  So proud of both of them!

Happy Snowflake Day!

Well, snow days are few and far between here in the mountains of NC.  If we lived 30 miles north we may have more but, in Asheville, we seem to only get a dusting from time to time.  A few weeks ago we got about an inch which seemed super exciting!  In the past 24 hours we have gotten about 8 inches here.  It’s like heaven on earth!  We are technically snowed in because there hasn’t been a plow near us.  We are stocked on firewood and groceries and it is a glorious feeling.  Holden and I have gone out a few times in the snow, mostly when Ellarie is napping, and I taught him to stand still so that he could hear the tiny snowflakes falling down.  It’s such a simple but amazing thing to appreciate:)  We have made a lot of snow angels, had snowball fights, gone on an adventure walk/sleigh ride, went sledding, and made hot cocoa:)  I love making such precious memories and being able to appreciate the beauty of mother nature!  Hope you all are enjoying the weather where you are, whether it be sunny and warm or wet and snowy! As Holden would say, “happy snowflake day”!

Holden was complaining that his neck was cold yesterday so I made him a quick cowl.  He loves it because he can pull it over his mouth to look like a Ninja!

It’s a bit too cold and wet for Ellarie to crawl around in the snow, so we made time to hang out with her in the playroom:)  Looking cute as ever!

Babbling

Ellarie had a lot to say to Holden this morning.  Luckily she didn’t mind his slight rejection with his foot:)

9 Months Old!

Today, Ellarie is 9 months old!  Boy time is moving too fast!  She now has two teeth, is crawling all over, pulls herself up to stand, and says many sounds!  She continues to adore Holden and is starting to hold her own more and more when it comes to playing with him.  This month’s picture makes me think she is already starting to look more like a little girl…

Ready for school!

The mornings can sometimes be a struggle for Holden to get ready for school.  We have been talking a lot about him taking responsibility with getting dressed and ready for school without complaining.  Today he just blew me away!  By 7:20 he had already picked out his outfit, put it on, put his PJs in the laundry, put on his coat, hat and backpack!  The kicker is that we don’t leave until 8:30!  Amazing:)

Ninja Kids Club

We started Holden in the “Ninja Kids Club” this month and he loves it!  He has learned so much in just a few weeks.  This month he was SO excited to receive his white belt.  We are so proud of him and love his enthusiasm!

Sledding

We finally had a few inches of snow here in Asheville and so I took Holden and Ellarie out to the playground to do some sledding with friends of ours.  Ellarie stayed in the carrier, strapped to me, but Holden got in a few great runs.  At one point though, he curved left and caught some air going over a tree stump.  It was exciting and a little scary:)  I wish I had gotten it on video.
